I am Jim Bell
President & CEO
Jim is an Ontario Association of Architects (OAA Lic. ArchTech) Architectural Designer with extensive residential design experience. Born and raised in the Pembroke area of Ontario, designing and building quality homes was a huge part of the Bell family heritage. Jim studied at Algonquin College and Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC Syllabus) and holds an Honours Degree in Building Design & Technology. His 35 years of experience began at practices in Calgary, Ottawa and Pembroke before co-founding a residential design build firm with two other associates in the fall of 1986. He is the President and principal architectural designer of Jim Bell Architectural Design Inc.
I am Tim Gilchrist
Tim is a member of the design team at Jim Bell Architectural Design inc. He prepares drawings, technical specifications and contract documents from preliminary design through to building permit application and construction. Tim graduated with honours from the Algonquin College School of Advanced Technology in the Architectural Technology program. He has worked in the field of architecture for more than 20 years, both as a self-employed Architectural Technologist and for various architectural firms. With experience in commercial and residential construction, Tim is excited to be a part of the Jim Bell team and to continue to build his architectural experience in both sectors.
I am Amie Cybulski
Associate & Production Manager
Amie is a member of the design team at Jim Bell Architectural Design. She manages production for our clients and prepares drawings, technical specifications and contract documents from preliminary design through to building permit application and construction. Amie holds an Architectural Technician Diploma from Algonquin College, is BCIN certified and has 13 years of experience in residential, commercial and mechanical design.
I am Julie Noel-Johnson
Business Manager, Accounting
Julie provides bookkeeping and cash flow management for the team at Jim Bell Architectural Design Inc. She has been working with small- and medium-sized businesses, primarily in the commercial construction sector, since 1987 and has completed business courses at Algonquin College and estimating courses with the Ottawa Construction Association. Her many accomplishments include: successfully overseeing a small construction company’s rapid growth from 5 to 75 employees; leading the successful implementation of a Quality Management System for a medical device manufacturing business in the role of Project Manager; directing a marketing team in charge of developing a new website and marketing collateral for a product line launch; successfully implementing an automated accounting program from various manual registers; and, developing a payroll program for AccPac users with union remittance requirements.
I am Stephanie Robertson
Director of Marketing & Communications
Stephanie manages marketing and communications for Jim Bell Architectural Design Inc. and also enjoys capturing the exceptional quality and craftsmanship in the homes designed and built by Jim Bell as the firm’s architectural photographer. Her interest in both art and science led Stephanie to Carleton University where she completed a degree in Industrial Design and then to the University of Ottawa where an MBA provided insight into the business and marketing worlds. Stephanie has over 30 years of amateur, semi-professional and professional photography experience and a true passion for the art of capturing the beauty in the world. With over 25 years of experience in the non-profit, health, insurance, financial services, creative services and high-tech sectors, Stephanie has served numerous organizations, including several charities, the Canadian Hospital Association, Nortel and Manulife in the areas of marketing, communications and design.
I am Amey Taylor
Senior Architectural Technologist/Designer
Amey is a member of the design team at Jim Bell Architectural Design inc. She prepares drawings, technical specifications and contract documents from preliminary design through to building permit application. Amey graduated with an Advanced Architectural Technologist Diploma from George Brown College. She brings a unique set of skills and perspective to every design with her 10+ years of experience in commercial and residential design and construction. When she isn’t working, she loves to be outdoors camping, hiking and spending time on the water.
I am Maria Beauchemin
Associate Architect OAA (on maternity leave)
Maria graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor or Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture. She enjoys collaborating with clients to create exceptional commercial and residential spaces with a particular specialization in small commercial building construction. She has completed numerous related projects, including a major drive-through recycling facility, retail locations and government projects. Maria will join the team after her maternity leave ends in October 2021.
I am Jay Renaud
Jay is a a Technologist in the Pembroke office. He holds a diploma in Architectural Technology from Algonquin College and will be supporting the design team, producing drawings, specifications and documents throughout the design process. A Canadian Forces Veteran of 14 years, Jay was injured in Afghanistan and received the Medal of Valor from the Governor General of Canada. Released from the forces, he went back to school at Algonquin College in Ottawa to study Architectural Technology. A happy husband to Chahrazade, and father of three, he enjoys spending his time in the country, hiking, exploring, cross country skiing, fishing and camping. Future goals include hiking Patagonia, Iceland and New Zealand and climbing mountains in the Yukon.
I am Youssef Fares
Youssef graduated from the Architectural Technology program at Algonquin College with a GPA of 3.9/4, and was awarded for the quality of his working drawings. He will prepare drawings and support the design team from preliminary design through to building permit application. Youssef came to Canada 5 years ago after fleeing the civil war in Syria, where he served as a paramedic assistant for the Red Cross. The International Red Cross recognized his volunteer work with two awards. When he left Syria for Canada, he was a fourth-year medical student at Damascus University. After arriving in Canada, he held a position as a Clinic Manager at a medical clinic. Since he has always had an interest in architecture, he decided to pursue architectural technology and enrolled at Algonquin. In his spare time, Youssef enjoys playing tennis and soccer, keeping up to date with technology, and indulging in his foodie interests.
I am Steve Bromley
Steve provides invaluable financial and strategic advice to Jim Bell and his team. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Certified General Accountant (CGA) and has over 30 years leadership experience in private and public companies at both management and board levels. Most recently he served as the CEO of SunOpta Inc. for 8 years, a leading integrated, global natural, organic and specialty foods company, where he spent 15 years in a variety of roles including CFO and COO. Prior to SunOpta he fulfilled a wide range of financial and operational roles at both Natrel Inc. and Ault Foods Limited. Steve has served as a member of the board of directors at Natrel Inc., SunOpta Inc. and Opta Minerals Inc. and was a North American Agribusiness Advisory Board member at Rabobank from 2010 to 2015. Steve currently serves on the advisory boards of Trident Brands and Origin Merchant Partners and on the board of directors of Enchi Corporation, a privately held provider of leading technology for the conversion of biomass to fuels and chemicals.
